ASUNDER: DREAMING MACHINES BOOK 1

Asunder is a novel by Luca Nobleman. It is the first of many sci-fi/fantasy novels in the series Dreaming Machines. Asunder tells the story of four intertwining characters. The first character, Balthazar “Azar” Gutien, is a scientific researcher studying the effects of dreams and his rare ability to use his dreams to communicate with those beyond the grave and along vast distances. His story is told in reverse, from the end of his life to the first. The rest of each character’s story is told in an advancing order. Jane’s story is told from the perspective of her childhood (the past) as well as her present adult life. She is a woman who is pregnant, nearing her delivery date, and on the run from her captors—the machines. These artificially intelligent beings have taken over the world, only allowing certain humans to survive, in order to force them to mine Caerulum—the ore that powers their processors, creating sentient life from their mechanical frames. In the story, you also follow Ace, a bedraggled former enslaved man, who is finding his place in the world of the rebellion. Lastly, you follow one of the machines, Enzo, who is on a quest to find Jane and bring her to the almighty Alpha. Follow along on this spellbinding discovery of the world of dreams, machines, and the meaning of life.
